Research Phase
Before writing a single line of code, our research agent studied Thomastown Autos — their current website, social presence, reviews, team, and services. Here's what stood out.
Founded in 2012 by Nick Currie with 15+ years of automotive experience, Thomastown Autos has built a 4.4-star Google rating from 37 reviews — with 31 five-star reviews and a recurring theme of reviewers noting Nick 'identified a problem with my car which a Ford dealer couldn't'
Specialist focus on CVT and DSG transmissions for Audi, VW, and Skoda — described as their 'bread and butter' — positioning them as the go-to shop when dealers can't solve complex transmission issues, with ECU and Transmission Control Unit update capabilities for European vehicles
Despite the name referencing Thomastown, the business is actually located at Unit 5/55 Radford Rd, Reservoir VIC 3073 — offering 11 services from logbook servicing and roadworthy certificates to engine overhauls and towing, all with an 'open and honest policy' on pricing and approvals
Design Phase
Every design decision was intentional — informed by the research, not pulled from a template library.
Visual Direction
A 6-page site with 9 components featuring a bespoke TransmissionQuiz interactive element that educates visitors on transmission types and issues. The page structure separates the transmission specialist offering from general servicing and roadworthy services. Counter animations, TestimonialCarousel, and Marquee components add engagement across 1,776 lines of TSX.
Design Rationale
Thomastown Autos' key differentiator is transmission expertise — particularly CVT and DSG systems that mainstream mechanics often can't diagnose. The TransmissionQuiz engages the exact audience searching for 'CVT problems' or 'DSG shudder' by helping them understand their issue before they call. The separate Transmission Specialists page establishes authority, while General Servicing and Roadworthy pages capture the broader local mechanic audience. Nick's honest, straight-talking brand voice is reflected in clear, no-nonsense copy throughout.
Build Phase
Site Architecture
// Next.js App Router
Methodology
Spark (research agent) scraped Thomastown Autos's current website, Google reviews, social media, and business listings. Every piece of real data — team names, service pricing, business hours, unique details — was extracted into a structured profile.
Based on the research, a bespoke design direction was created specifically for Thomastown Autos. No templates — the typography, color palette, layout patterns, and visual effects were all chosen to match this business's personality and industry.
Pixel (design agent) built the entire 6-page Next.js application from scratch — 9 custom components, real content from the research phase, App Router with proper routing, and production-grade code.
Sentinel (QA agent) verified the build compiles cleanly, checked for placeholder content, validated all routes render correctly, and confirmed the design is unique (not recycled from another demo).
Additional Notes
Research drew from 5 sources with high data completeness, including the official website (thomastownautos.com.au) across services, about, and team pages, and Google Maps profile (4.4 stars, 37 reviews with full rating breakdown: 31 five-star, 6 one-star). Eight selected Google review quotes were extracted. The Reservoir address versus Thomastown business name discrepancy was noted. No social media profiles were found.
