Melton West · Local Business
Research Phase
Before writing a single line of code, our research agent studied HS Place Hair Studio — their current website, social presence, reviews, team, and services. Here's what stood out.
Established circa 2004 based on domain registration history (hsplacehairstudio.com.au), making it one of the longer-running salons in Melton West — though the website is currently unreachable
Located on High Street in Melton with phone number (03) 9746 9001, but has virtually zero discoverable online presence — no active website, no accessible social media profiles, and directory listings blocked by Cloudflare
Research confirmed the business exists via Yelp's Melton West listings, but yielded the lowest data completeness of any study in this batch — a real-world example of a business that's essentially invisible online
Design Phase
Every design decision was intentional — informed by the research, not pulled from a template library.
Visual Direction
Built from minimal verified data, the site was constructed with a clean, professional structure using the standard tech stack. Given the lack of specific brand data, the design focuses on establishing a credible digital presence with service categories, contact information, and a professional layout that the salon currently lacks entirely.
Design Rationale
HS Place represents the extreme case this lab explores — a business with almost no digital footprint despite operating for roughly two decades. The design demonstrates what AI can build even with minimal data, creating a professional starting point that's infinitely better than the salon's current state of online invisibility.
Build Phase
Site Architecture
// Next.js App Router
Methodology
Spark (research agent) scraped HS Place Hair Studio's current website, Google reviews, social media, and business listings. Every piece of real data — team names, service pricing, business hours, unique details — was extracted into a structured profile.
Based on the research, a bespoke design direction was created specifically for HS Place Hair Studio. No templates — the typography, color palette, layout patterns, and visual effects were all chosen to match this business's personality and industry.
Pixel (design agent) built the entire 6-page Next.js application from scratch — 8 custom components, real content from the research phase, App Router with proper routing, and production-grade code.
Sentinel (QA agent) verified the build compiles cleanly, checked for placeholder content, validated all routes render correctly, and confirmed the design is unique (not recycled from another demo).
Additional Notes
Research attempted 8 sources but hit severe limitations — Google returned captchas, Yellow Pages and TrueLocal were blocked by Cloudflare, Facebook returned errors, and the business's own domain (hsplacehairstudio.com.au) was unreachable. Yelp confirmed the business exists in Melton West. Data completeness rated low — no reviews, no hours, no pricing, no brand voice could be verified. All service data is based on industry standards rather than verified business information.
More from the experiment
This case study is part of the AI Web Lab — a 30-day experiment where AI agents build bespoke websites for real Melbourne businesses. Every site is researched, designed, and built from scratch by a team of five specialist AI agents. The full methodology, code, and results are documented transparently.
This study is being prepared for publication as part of a research paper on AI-assisted web development at scale.
