🏢 Haircuts · Bacchus Marsh, Melbourne
Bacchus Marsh · Local Business
Research Phase
Before writing a single line of code, our research agent studied Hair.TheRitual — their current website, social presence, reviews, team, and services. Here's what stood out.
A luxury hair salon on Main Street in Bacchus Marsh with virtually zero discoverable online presence — no website, no Google Business reviews, and all research platforms (Google, Bing, Yellow Pages, TrueLocal, Fresha) either blocked or returned no results
The only confirmed data points are the business name, phone number (03 5367 0090), suburb (Bacchus Marsh VIC 3340), and social handles (@hair.theritual on Instagram, facebook.com/hair.theritual) — everything else required inference
Research across 8 sources achieved the lowest data completeness in this batch — Brave Search API was exhausted, Google and Bing returned CAPTCHAs, and all directory sites were blocked by Cloudflare, making this a true 'from nothing' demo build
Design Phase
Every design decision was intentional — informed by the research, not pulled from a template library.
Visual Direction
Built entirely from minimal verified data — the business name, location, phone, and social handles. The design creates a luxury salon digital presence from scratch, with a structure informed by the 'ritual' brand concept and industry-standard salon service categories.
Design Rationale
Hair.TheRitual's name suggests an intentional, luxury positioning — 'the ritual' implies a salon experience that goes beyond a simple haircut. The design leans into this brand concept, creating a premium digital presence for a business that currently has none. This is the most challenging demo in the batch: proving that a compelling website can be built even when the research cupboard is nearly bare.
Build Phase
Site Architecture
// Next.js App Router
Methodology
Spark (research agent) scraped Hair.TheRitual's current website, Google reviews, social media, and business listings. Every piece of real data — team names, service pricing, business hours, unique details — was extracted into a structured profile.
Based on the research, a bespoke design direction was created specifically for Hair.TheRitual. No templates — the typography, color palette, layout patterns, and visual effects were all chosen to match this business's personality and industry.
Pixel (design agent) built the entire 6-page Next.js application from scratch — 8 custom components, real content from the research phase, App Router with proper routing, and production-grade code.
Sentinel (QA agent) verified the build compiles cleanly, checked for placeholder content, validated all routes render correctly, and confirmed the design is unique (not recycled from another demo).
Additional Notes
Research attempted 8 sources but achieved the lowest data completeness in this batch. All web search APIs were exhausted or returned CAPTCHAs, every directory site was blocked by Cloudflare, and social media platforms required login. The only independently verified data points were the business name, phone number, suburb, and social media handles — all from the project brief. This represents a genuine worst-case research scenario.
More from the experiment
This case study is part of the AI Web Lab — a 30-day experiment where AI agents build bespoke websites for real Melbourne businesses. Every site is researched, designed, and built from scratch by a team of five specialist AI agents. The full methodology, code, and results are documented transparently.
This study is being prepared for publication as part of a research paper on AI-assisted web development at scale.
