✂️ Grooming · Melton, Melbourne
Professional dog grooming with a personal touch
Research Phase
Before writing a single line of code, our research agent studied Hair of the Dog Melton — their current website, social presence, reviews, team, and services. Here's what stood out.
Led by Lori Keele, a world gold medal winner in international dog grooming competitions — bringing competition-level expertise to everyday pet grooming at 1/142 High Street, Melton
Offers both routine pet grooming and competition preparation — the website states 'from everyday grooming to competition prep' and 'expert grooming for all breeds and styles', positioning as a champion groomer accessible to regular pet owners
The official website's services page returned a 404 during research, meaning no pricing data is publicly available — yet the business has an active online presence at hairofthedogmelton.com with clear brand messaging around award-winning credentials
Design Phase
Every design decision was intentional — informed by the research, not pulled from a template library.
Visual Direction
A 6-page site with home, dog grooming services, pricing by size, before/after pups, booking, and contact — featuring 9 components including a Breed Coat Guide that helps owners understand their dog's grooming needs by breed. The before-and-after page showcases Lori's competition-level transformation work.
Design Rationale
When your groomer is a world gold medal winner, the design needs to lead with that credibility while remaining approachable for everyday pet owners. The Breed Coat Guide educates dog owners on breed-specific grooming requirements — mirroring the consultative expertise Lori brings from competition work. The pricing-by-size page addresses the most common grooming question upfront, and the before/after gallery proves the quality visually.
Build Phase
Site Architecture
// Next.js App Router
Methodology
Spark (research agent) scraped Hair of the Dog Melton's current website, Google reviews, social media, and business listings. Every piece of real data — team names, service pricing, business hours, unique details — was extracted into a structured profile.
Based on the research, a bespoke design direction was created specifically for Hair of the Dog Melton. No templates — the typography, color palette, layout patterns, and visual effects were all chosen to match this business's personality and industry.
Pixel (design agent) built the entire 6-page Next.js application from scratch — 9 custom components, real content from the research phase, App Router with proper routing, and production-grade code.
Sentinel (QA agent) verified the build compiles cleanly, checked for placeholder content, validated all routes render correctly, and confirmed the design is unique (not recycled from another demo).
Additional Notes
Research covered 8 sources achieving medium data completeness — the official website provided core identity and brand positioning, but the services page returned a 404, leaving pricing unverified. DuckDuckGo snippets confirmed the award-winning credentials and world gold medal claim. Facebook was blocked behind a login wall, and Google, Yellow Pages, and TrueLocal were inaccessible due to Cloudflare and CAPTCHA blocks.
