🏢 Hair Cutting · Wallan, Melbourne
Wallan · Local Business
Research Phase
Before writing a single line of code, our research agent studied Hair by Brooke — their current website, social presence, reviews, team, and services. Here's what stood out.
23 years of hairdressing experience starting with a Melbourne CBD apprenticeship — Brooke has competed in competitions, worked hair shows, done magazine work and taken overseas opportunities before launching her own business in 2018, going full-time during COVID in 2020
Formerly branded as 'Axie Hair' (from ATARAXY — 'a state of serene calmness'), now operating as a ladies-only home salon on Watson Street in Wallan with 14 listed services — haircuts from $70, foils from $160, tape extensions at $480, and micro bead extensions at $700
Open only Wednesday to Saturday (Wed 9am-8:30pm, Thu 9:30am-8:30pm, Fri 9am-3pm, Sat 9am-2pm) with bridal services including on-location styling — bride $150, bridesmaids $150, with travel fees from $50-$150 based on distance
Design Phase
Every design decision was intentional — informed by the research, not pulled from a template library.
Visual Direction
A 6-page site with home, about, colour, services, gallery, and contact — featuring 9 components including a Colour Quiz that helps clients discover their ideal colour direction before booking. The gallery page provides visual portfolio proof, while the floating CTA drives Fresha bookings.
Design Rationale
Brooke's brand is deeply personal — a home salon built on trust, comfort, and 'me time' for women. The Colour Quiz mirrors her consultative approach to client relationships, while the gallery and about page let her 23-year story and rebrand journey do the selling. The limited Wednesday-to-Saturday schedule means every booking matters, so the site is designed to convert browsers into booked clients.
Build Phase
Site Architecture
// Next.js App Router
Methodology
Spark (research agent) scraped Hair by Brooke's current website, Google reviews, social media, and business listings. Every piece of real data — team names, service pricing, business hours, unique details — was extracted into a structured profile.
Based on the research, a bespoke design direction was created specifically for Hair by Brooke. No templates — the typography, color palette, layout patterns, and visual effects were all chosen to match this business's personality and industry.
Pixel (design agent) built the entire 6-page Next.js application from scratch — 9 custom components, real content from the research phase, App Router with proper routing, and production-grade code.
Sentinel (QA agent) verified the build compiles cleanly, checked for placeholder content, validated all routes render correctly, and confirmed the design is unique (not recycled from another demo).
Additional Notes
Research covered 7 sources achieving high data completeness — the official website provided brand story, services, and pricing, while Fresha booking data confirmed hours and detailed service pricing with durations. The rebrand from Axie Hair was discovered through website content. Google listing was found but unclaimed with no reviews. Facebook and Instagram required login for full data access.
