The Victorian Government lists Friday 18 September 2026 as the final day of Term 3 and Monday 5 October 2026 as the first day of Term 4.
For families following the government-school calendar, the break runs from Saturday 19 September through Sunday 4 October. Independent and Catholic schools may set different dates, so check the calendar issued by the school itself.
What overlaps the break
The Friday before the AFL Grand Final is a Victorian public holiday on 25 September, and the Grand Final is scheduled for Saturday 26 September. Those dates can affect demand, transport and accommodation, but this entry does not assume a particular activity or venue will be available.
